During the normal course of work, there are things that come up which can cause work to slow down or even stop. It can be as simple as a permissions problem, or as complex as the need to get a special hardware configuration set up by another team. These impediments can affect not only the pace of the team, but if not addressed they can also affect the overall morale of the team. Good agile teams diligently identify and expose impediments throughout a project. The most common place for a team to discuss and begin to remove critical impediments is during the daily standup. Each team member communicates, in addition to daily progress and plans, any impediments that are getting in their way. If members of the team who are at the standup can help remove those impediments, they will. It is the job of the designated coach, team lead, manager, or ScrumMaster to remove any outstanding impediments during a project. |
